Sarah and Andrew
About Us
Sarah has been a teacher, an entertainer, an animal trainer, and has done creative work in a few different fields. She also is a great and creative cook. Andrew is a draftsman who works on AutoCAD drawing up parts for steel construction, and is an avid hockey player. We met 6 years ago while Sarah was at university in Peterborough, and were married in August 2005. Sarah spent most of 2007 and 2008 pregnant with our daughters, Grace and Faith, each born in November, just less than a year apart. Andrew has enjoyed connecting with younger people through sports and church activities, and has a passion for mentoring. Sarah has a passion for teaching, which is currently being channeled through parenting. We both have a keen interest in community work and social justice, which has led us to explore the future possibility of adopting an older child. With young children of our own and a family centered lifestyle, foster care enables us to incorporate these passions into our present circumstances.

Description of Home
Current placements / Number of beds: 1 / 2
This two storey, 4 bedroom / 2 bathroom century home is our own small-town treasure. What most people enjoy about our home in the summer time is our full size, in-ground swimming pool. We have a large yard and friendly neighbours, a deck with barbecue, mature trees, a fire pit in the back yard, and a reasonably quiet street. Downtown Brighton is only a few blocks away, easy walking distance. In the winter we have room to build a rink outdoors. When indoors, our ping pong room is lots of fun, and we use it often. It never feels stuffy in our home, since all the rooms are quite spacious, nicely decorated, and well aired, but what makes our house a home is that it’s kid-friendly and obviously “lived in.”
Management Style
The centerpieces of our home are faith and family. Top priorities in our program are to spend time together as a family, to respect each other, to grow spiritually, care for others, cultivate good friends, eat well, spend time outdoors, and be reasonably active. We believe in being good stewards of our health, our abilities, our possessions, and our environment. We think of love as an action word, and therefore we show affection often and serve others cheerfully. Our exercise of discipline starts with self-discipline, always is loving, and ends with positive affirmation.
Our Interests
Andrew enjoys sports (particularly hockey), cars, and motorcycles. He is very active, and likes to spend time with different people. Since becoming a father, one of his favourite things to do is spend time just playing with the kids. Sarah enjoys cooking, good books, music, movies, and world cultures. Our toddlers Grace and Faith enjoy being around other children, and are learning about sharing and being gentle. As a family we love to have people over to our house for meals, conversation, games and swimming, or to visit family, friends, and neighbours.
