About Us:

Joe was born on May 26, 1976. He has lived in Prince Edward County, Napanee and Belleville. He is the youngest child in his family and his Mom lives in Toronto. I was born on August 11, 1977. I have lived in Foxboro, Napanee and Belleville. I am the youngest child in my family and my parents and sister live close by in Foxboro. Joe and I met in 1998 and began this type of work in 1999.

Qualifications:

Becky

Graduated high-school and completed the requirements for the Early Childhood Education program at Loyalist College. She completes training as it is of interest and TCI as instructed.

Joe

Graduated high-school and attained a Health Care Aid certificate. He participates in workshops of his interest and completes his TCI training as instructed.

Together, responded to an ad in the local newspaper and, after some intensive training, we became group home house parents, operating a six-bed group home in Napanee. In the year 2000, we became aware of the Quinte Children’s Homes agency and applied to become treatment foster parents. The rest seems to be history!

Our Pets

The loudest member of our family, and the one with the most grey hair is Ellen. She is a terri-poo and was born on September 14, 2001. Last, but not least, is our shy but friendly cat named Bailey. He is about 10 years old and still acts like a kitten!

Description of Home

 

Our house would be described as a high-ranch. We have three bedroom upstairs and one bedroom downstairs. There are two bathrooms and a garage and the rest is pretty much the same as any other house. We do have a nice, big, bright kitchen which is where we meet at least once a day together as a family for a meal. We have a big screen TV downstairs where we like to come together and watch movies and play video games. We have a finished basement, which allows us room for toys, books, armwrestling table, area for mini hockey and another place to relax. Our yard isn’t fenced in, but hopefully it will be soon. We have a small deck out the back but we really don’t use it much. Our garage is full of outside toys like bikes, scooters, skateboards, hockey sticks and much more!

Our Interests

I enjoy watching many sports and sometimes playing them! I like playing games and doing fun activities with others. When I have some spare time, I like to spend time with my sister and new nephew. Joe is a professional armwrestler and he has won a Canadian Championship in his weight class. Joe does a great deal of armwrestling, including a weekly practice and traveling to tournaments. We have an armwrestling table at our house and Joe shows everyone how to do it safely and have fun! In addition, Joe enjoys playing many sports especially ball hockey, road hockey, basketball and football. He plays the guitar and likes to listen to music. He likes to play playstation and other games. All the children in our family participate in community activities, such as, swimming lessons, ball hockey, ice hockey, other YMCA programs and other opportunities as they arise.
