Pierre and Greg

Therapist Parenting Model:

Pierre and Greg believe in a holistic and an integrated approach to parenting. They provide a structured supportive family environment focusing on small steps with teachable moments. Each child’s experiences and needs define their own requirements. A family environment has roles of interdependency, support, responsibilities to each other and respect for each others person and needs. We believe in open communication and dialogue, building those skills within each child and their self esteem. Each child is expected to take on responsibilities and participate within the home no matter how small the expectations may be. Focusing on learning life skills as a basis for independence later in life from helping with simple tasks, from sorting laundry, cleaning up toys, or participating in meal preparation, all of course on an age appropriate and ability level.

Profile:

Greg and Pierre live on a lake and enjoy a cottage lifestyle. Currently living in the 3 bedroom cottage on the 4 acre property with a beach and enjoy plenty of space for outdoor activities. The cottage boasts two living rooms and a large newly renovated family washroom. They have opened their home to troubled youth and provided a warm supported environment for growth, learning and a safe haven to stabilize their lives.

Pierre:

Pierre has extensive life experiences working with youth directly and in positions to advocate for them. He is a former municipal councillor, trustee, contractor and real estate developer. Pierre has dedicated most of his life to advocating for Children and has taken a hands on role in developing, coaching, mentoring, counselling and just being an unjudgemental ear to young children in both a residential setting and within the community.
Pierre’s formal education is in finance. Has been a Big Brother, Member of the Board and Executive committee for Peel Children’s Aid, employer of youth in need of life skills and real life work experience, and a Life Skills facilitator with the YMCA for Young adults.
Pierre’s interests include sailing, kayaking, hiking, camping, gardening, architecture and design, and community charitable work.

Greg:

Greg is a professional Artist, with a career spanning being a singer songwriter (a capella), author and visual artist. His formal education is in vocal music. Coming from a large family, Greg has experienced the introduction of an adopted younger sibling into his family and helped raise a niece and nephew.
Greg’s interests are, kayaking, jogging, cross country biking, writing, reading, music and swimming.
